Elders
Meet the spiritual leaders who shepherd our church family with wisdom, care, and dedication.
Spiritual Leadership and Oversight
Our elders are men who have been called by God and recognized by our congregation for their spiritual maturity, biblical knowledge, and heart for shepherding God's people. They provide spiritual oversight, biblical teaching, and pastoral care for our church family.
"Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve."
1 Peter 5:2
Our Elders

Originally from Denton, Texas, Burt Bradley studied optometry at the University of Houston. In 1977, Burt was saved while at a campus Bible study. Following graduation, Burt moved to Lubbock where, in 1981, he married. Since then Burt and his wife, Terry, have made Lubbock their home. They have three daughters and a son. Burt and his family have been part of the Chapel family since 1985 and he has served as elder in the church since 1988. Burt is a much appreciated by the assembly and has shown particular aptitude in teaching and writing.
Originally from Kansas, Jim received Christ while attending Texas Tech University and was nurtured in his early Christian faith at the Chapel. It was during those years that Jim married his wife Sharon. After completing graduate studies at Tech, Jim took employment at Texas Tech Medical School as the manager of a research department. In 1986, Jim and Sharon (and their three children) moved to California, where Jim participated in a discipleship program (he later received the M.Div. and D.Min. degrees.). In 1989, the Haesemeyers moved to Honduras, Central America. Currently the Haesemeyers divide their yearly calendar in order to minister in both Honduras and Lubbock.
Larry's heart for biblical teaching and discipleship was shaped early through his upbringing in Snyder, Texas, where he grew up attending First Baptist Church. He accepted Christ's gift of salvation during a Wednesday night youth meeting in 1996 and was baptized shortly after. His journey of faith deepened at Texas Tech University in Lubbock (1998-99), where he began studying the Bible in depth under the mentorship of Brady Collier. After transferring to Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, he remained deeply committed to biblical study and college ministry while earning a bachelor's degree in business and computer science.
Following his graduation in 2002, Larry returned to Lubbock to pursue a career in computer network security. He participated in a home church for several years before joining FreeWay Bible Chapel in 2008, where he became actively involved in college and career ministry. His leadership journey began when he started meeting regularly with the elders in 2010, and he was recognized as an elder in 2018.
Larry married his beloved wife Casey in 2013, and together they continue to serve God faithfully at FreeWay Bible Chapel with their three children.
Larry is passionate about helping others grow in their understanding of God's Word through his preaching and teaching in the chapel's Discipleship Intern Training Program (DITP). As a gifted teacher, he has the ability to make complex biblical truths clear and accessible.
Tim Lambert and his wife, Lyndsay, have long made Lubbock their home. During his college years, Tim received Christ as his Savior and, along with his wife, began meeting at the Chapel shortly after their marriage in 1973. Following his graduation from Texas Tech University (located in Lubbock) with a major in Political Science, Tim began his career in sales, later establishing his own business. Although successful in business, Tim's interests have long focused on political concerns.
In 1990, Tim was asked to assume the leadership of the Texas Home School Coalition, a non-profit advocacy organization supporting Texas home school families. Currently he serves as president of that organization. Tim has faithfully and capably served as an elder at FreeWay Bible Chapel since 1982. The Lamberts have four children, two residing in Lubbock and in fellowship at FreeWay while one lives in Austin, Texas and another in Midland, Texas.
